If you have already removed the hair thing, chances are the cat will be just fine. The swelling should subside and the cat will be jumping up on your counters in no time.

If you haven't taken it off, do so, no matter how much the cat hates it... Get some help if you need to.

Monitor the cat and ensure the swelling goes down.

If it doesn't, you will need to take him/her to the vet. Many times vets will work with you for payments, etc...

PS: I agree with the second poster... Kids will be kids. Don't let that part bother you. Just take care of the cat the best way you know how. If you are unsure, do what you are doing now. Ask people.

it may hurt a little, but you're going to have to get some scissors under it and cut it. this will put some extra tension on it for a moment, but the immediate relief afterwards will be well worth it to the cat. then just watch it for a couple hours and if the swelling does not subside then you're going to have to pony up the money for a vet visit...

p.s. the first answerer needs to get off her high horse and cut you some slack! this is not animal cruelty. it's a kid doing what kids do... they don't mean harm and i'm sure that the cat will be fine!

take it off, massage the area lightly, and put some liniment, or other warming agent on it to encourage blood flow. Be sure not to let the cat eat or lick it or you use warm compresses, at this point you want the blood flow and swelling down.

First, I hope you removed it immediately. It's free to call a vet. They don't often like to give advice over the phone but if you explain your situation, they can probably help you with some advice. If it was only a few hours, it's unlikely that there will be any permanent damage. Try to get the blood flowing again. Massage his whole leg (gently), up and down, you could try a little warm water on his leg or perhaps a warm towel. Keep an eye on it and see how he is tomorrow.

If you don't get the hair tie off of the cats paw, the blood circulation will completely cut off and the cat's paw will lose feeling and after a while 'die'. then you would HAVE to go to the vet. Try cutting it off and then get the circulation back in the cat's paw.

You're extremely lucky you found it before the paw gangrened and had blood poisoning. I'd call the vet and ask over the phone what they recommend--having a vet walk you through any steps needed is important, you don't know how much blood flow was stopped. It's painful for the cat and you need to do the right thing fast.

try the cutting it off with scissers(i know that's misspelled) thing, that's what they would do at the vet. if the swelling does not subside, call your local SPCA shelter. for people with money problems, they offer free service. you have to have proof that you cannot meet a regular vet's visit financially, tho. i think you do anyway. since it's only been a few houers, after the hair thing is removed, kitty's paw should be OK. if you haven't already, you should probably reprimand your kid for doing something like that to kitty, that way it doesn't happen again.

I agree with a couple of the other answers. Just give your vet a call. My dog had a seizure on a Sunday, and they were closed, so we just called her at home, told her the symptoms and asked what to do. The seizure wasnt serious, but I'm glad we still called. It's free, and it would be better to be on the safe side.

Tell your kid not to do that, as s/he had to have wound it around a few times in order to get it to stay on. Put some ice on it, and try to keep the cat from walking a little bit. Then make the cat walk around.

Well, I do hope you scolded your child but still don't be too hard on them. Because then they think they did something horrible.. Anyway.. Get some scissors and try to clip off the hair band without hurting the cat. Since it is swollen, get a tiny ziploc bag and put ice in it. Get a paper towel and wrap it around the ice. Wrap the ziploc bag around the cats paw for about 10 seconds. If the swelling doesn't go down, put it on for 15 seconds. That should get the swelling down. Then get the same ziploc bag and pour the ice out. Put some hot water in it (about 1/4 of the bag). Then wrap it around the cats paw where the hair band had been. Also keep the cat rested and bring her food and drink to her. Keep her in a cat bed and if she gets up past the food and drink, take her to the litterbox yourself. If that's not the case, put her back in the bed and lay by her real quiet. See if the cat will go to sleep. If not, just be real quiet and pet her and hold her down. When she goes to sleep, keep petting her and slowly get up. Very, very quietly. Keep an eye on her paw and see if it gets better tomorrow. Hope this helps!

Call your local humane society or RSPCA and they will help you, even if you can't afford it. I'm in Toronto and I know for a fact that our local humane society will provide vet services geared to your financial situation. At the end of the day their main concern is the health and well-being of your pet. Yes, your kid did something silly but that's what kids do! She/he has learned a valuable lesson today. If you calmy explain your situation, I'm sure they will see exactly what I see. A responsible pet owner who has been thrown a curveball in life. This is not a case of animal cruelty and you are not a bad pet owner because you can't afford a vet.

And one last thing.... To all those folks who were so quick to judge you and your situation... well I am a firm believer in the saying "What goes around, comes around." It may have been cutting off his circulation causing it to swell up. Also it could have been too tight and bruised him, it may just be painful. If you see him holding his paw up or limping you should pry wait 1-2 days and if he's still limping/holding paw up it may be a serious injury.

As others have posted, you may call the vet and explain the situation (both the paw and the financial situation) to them. They should be able to give you even more first aid advice, give you an idea of 'danger signs' to watch for, and if his paw takes a turn for the worse arrange a payment plan of some sort. Secondly, you do need to let your child know that anything that hurts him will hurt the cat. you could try at home waxing kits, but thats gonna hurt worse than the nair, when you tried shaving were you using a new razor? you should always use a new razor when shaving down below, also i use hair conditioner when i shave instead of soap or shaving cream. you should try it next time and see if it works for you. it makes your skin soft and the razor seems to move easier thru the hair than soap or shaving cream.

Waxing will do the job to though not totally painlessly.

So you know those pumice stones to exfoliates your cracked feet? You can actually take a pumice stone and in circular motion rub it on your legs It removes your hair safely

and pain free at the same time it exfoliates your skin (use it with some soap). However I do not think it will work in the bikini area. Other than that I would turn to a Laser hair removal place. They will permanently take care of your problem.

I used to frequently dye my hair when I was in primary school, but only ever with temporary colours, usually the mousse type that wash put in a couple of washes. From what i remember I was doing it when I was about your son's age.

I definitely would NOT recommend letting him dye it blond, as that would require using bleach, and that's not really a good idea.

If he wants to dye it blue, I think the best thing to do would be to get a temporary colour, like a gel or mousse or even spray, becuse then if he decides he doesn't like it, it will wash out quickly, and then there's less risk of his school kicking up a fuss about his hair.

I just recently highlighted my 4 yr. old sons hair a few weeks back. I did use caution not to get any bleach in him eyes. YOU MUST BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!

I have seen many small kids get color and highlights during my 9 yr. career as a stylist and have not yet heard or seen any bad outcomes from it.

I do recommend that you have a professional do the bleaching for you, bleach can be extremely dangerous if it gets in the eyes. Maybe even consider a beauty school, they have trained instructors at all times.

well, for starters you can't FIX curly hair you embrace it. it also sounds like your son has long hair, i mean for a boy. if you can't manage his hair keep it low or you could buy black haircare like "baby soft" which is awesome on kids hair. if you have issues buying black haircare then invest in a leave in conditioner for him and don't comb or brush curly hair when it is dry. comb through it while washing or conditioning then finger through his hair after that, this way you will keep the curls.

My husband has curly curly hair and mine is pin straight...our daughter had wacky curly/wavy in the front and sides...and dry looking straight hair in the back. I use a little lotion for my daughters hair, after her bath or if her hair is already dry I wet it with a spray bottle and just run my fingers through it so that I can curl by itself ....just rub it in your palms and run it through his hair...it will hold the curl without making it hard and it won't dry his hair out like other products do.

I have a daughter with insane curls, and what I do is brush her hair with a regular brush, right before a bath. Then I wash her hair in the tub like normal with shampoo. After that I add a tiny amount of conditioner (mine) and comb it through her hair with a wide tooth comb. I don't rinse her hair, and it dries really nice, no frizz no puff.

It took a long time to figure it out, but it works great.

Wash his hair less often then you do yours once maybe twice a week. You can rinse his hair daily just don't use shampoo some conditioner helps and makes their hair smell good too. Get some Just for me Lotion for his hair and put it in while it's still damp comb it out and leave it alone. Don't bruch curly hair while it's try or it's going to be all puffy ( fro) looking. This has worked with all three of my kids and they too are bi-racial ( I'm white daddy is black). None have "nappy" hair so to speak just curly hair nothing I was use to with my stick straight hair.

Use the shampoo ( preferably ) with the conditioner , I advise on using Johnson Johnson's , Mustella , etc . When combing ( ALWAYS ) use a little bit of oil .

I used to have the same problem with my son. I'm mixed and his father is black so he's medium skin tone but has big curls on top and kind of straight hair underneath. When he was a baby he had exactly what you were describing and when we would comb his hair forward he had a big curly flip thing in the front. We just put a hat on him honestly but he grew out of it once his hair got longer he grew the big curls. Same thing with the curls that by the end of the day it looks like a mess but we cant comb it or it gets worse so we wash it and comb it while its wet and use just a tiny bit of that baby oil gel and it keeps his curls tight throughout the day. You might try that with your son to get his hair to stay in place but just use a really really tiny bit or it will just make his hair really greesy. You also may just want to keep his hair cut low when he gets a little older if you find it harder to manage. We leave my sons hair long so we can braid it sometimes but if it wasnt for that I would probably just shave his head.

If so, I really need help finding the perfect hair cut, pictures would be awesome!

So..I'll describe the hairstyle and you try to find a picture of it, tell me how I can cut it like this, and/or tell me how to describe it to my stylist...

First off, I need something that matches my personality, its sweet, shy, artistic, and bubbly. Then, I want an edgy hairstyle that would go well with black hair (and if you have any other colour suggestions feel free to add). And also, my clothing style is classic with an eclectic side to it.

I really want a short hair cut with long bangs, but something different from the scene kids. The hair will be a weave (sow-in) and then we'll cut that.

I have curly hair...its the type of curl you see on younger kids (im 18) its looks just like kids hair friz and all. I need help on containing it...I've heard to use a wide tooth comb and to use products that dont contain alcohol but i've done that and it still comes out frizzy or too dry. Use hot oil treatments weekly, have it thinned if it's thick. Once it is healthy, use a straightener iron on it. When you wash your hair, rinse w/cool water, that tends to keep the frizz down. And use a moisturizer shampoo %26amp; conditioner.

I have three small girls under the age of 6 and I am always finding their hair 'in large quantities' around my house. Children of that age have such fine hair which breaks so easily in some cases. In fact we justy purchased a new car a couple of weeks ago and my kids hair is already in the interior and yes even the boot, needless to say they have never climed into the boot as the car is a sadan with a seperate boot compartment but certainly their toys and my backpack have been placed there.

I like have a side part rather than one down the middle, which I think is outdated. Typically you lose hair every day. You might just be noticing it more as well as it thinning after the pregnancy.

Four or five months after my first was born, I had scalp showing. It was pretty traumatic. Then my normally limp, super-straight, light-brown hair came in black and curly and sticking up all over my head. (It did eventually return to almost normal, just a little darker, and with a little curl here and there.)

I'm five months post-partum again, and I'm pretty bald again, but I can see all the little hairs growing back, so I know it'll be OK.

This time around, my hair guy told me to keep my hair short, because it's easier to hide the bald spots and the new short hairs ... And it definitely looks better.

Anyway ... Just remember that you don't really lose hair while you're pregnant, so you've actually got a whole head of hair you shouldn't have -- and that's all falling out now. It'll look normal soon, I promise!

you can go to a regular barber shop, but i would suggest going to a place that specializes in childrens hair because they will be more friendly and more experienced with children and be able to make your child feel more comfortable when he/she see a grown person coming at them with scissors. Like most things kids do the first time they are a little scared and depending on your kid it will just make the experience better to have someone who is trained to deal with kids.

I would definitly take him to a place that is used to cutting children's hair. There is a place called Kids Kuts that I took my daughter to for her first haircut. They are really good there. They have TV's playing kids movies %26amp; instead of sitting in a regular chair, they have like a spaceship, a horse %26amp; things like that for them to sit on. And when it's a child's first haircut, they take a polaroid picture of your child %26amp; put it in a little folder with a lock of their hair. It's really too cute. They are in the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center. (There is also an AMC Movie Theatre, an Old Navy %26amp; a bunch of other stores in that shopping center) Here is their information:

1. It could be a vitamin deficiency (B -12)

2. It could be normal for your family (check if boys father, grandfather, uncles, etc...had grey hairs as child)

3. It could be a thyroid problem

Basically, see the pediatrician. He should run a BBC and thyroid panel.

Although it may be nothing, his is something that needs further investigation by a physician.

P.S. If it turns out to be nothing, you can use hair color to mask it and reduce teasing.

Check with your son's doctor. It is probably just genetic, but get a medical opinion before doing anything too drastic. You might also want talk to your son's teacher. He or she might be able to do something to mitigate the teasing. Self-esteem is so important and the teasing has to be hurting your son's esteem.

My mother started graying when she was 18 and said her father had snow white hair by the time he was 25. If my son had started graying at age 8, I don't know what I would have done. A former co-worker did not want to dye her hair, but she used a spray that put temporary color on her hair, which always looked very nice. She said that it washed out easily and was not hard to put on after every shampoo. That might be an option. However, check with a professional regarding its use. Some of the kids on my son's soccer team sprayed their hair green (the team color) for some of the tournaments. It looked cute until they started sweating from all the exercise. The sweat made the dye run. You wouldn't want that to happen to your son on the playground.

The chi or any tourmaline straightener will work well on coarse curly hair and I have never heard of anyone complaining of damage to their hair. You can get one cheap, if you go to Ulta with a 20% off coupon that you can get from their website. Stay away from Rusk, that straightener, it caught my hair in the plates and snapped it off. The key is that you have to use a prepping spray (I use one by Matrix) before straightening that will protect your hair from the heat. I straighten my hair about 80% of the time and it takes about 15 minutes to get my coarse and wavy hair pin straight. I also use straigtening products on my wet hair as well.

Vaseline repels water, instead of using shampoo use a TON of conditioner and a very fine comb to try and comb out the Vaseline.... next time keep your kid away from the Vaseline container, although it's very good for the skin, so perhaps if you can't get it out of your kids hair it will condition his/her hair. im 17, and it hasnt been long since i passed my childhood lol. i shower everyday and i have various shampoos i like to experiment with (i have very long hair) LOL. my little sister has her own bottle of kids' shampoo, this one is "Wild Watermelon" scented LOL. as i was showering today, i decided to check it out and i sniffed the bottle....it smelled so darn good!! it smelled better than "older people shampoo" LOL. i stole some and i washed my hair with it!! my hair smells so good. it kinda made me feel younger again (as weird as it may sound). but i couldnt resist that kids' shampoo...it smells so good....like candy!!

Er... I sometimes nick my GF's shampoo and it has the same effect - makes me feel all fresh. My dad used my mums shampoo once and then went to play football. It was raining and all the other players kept saying they could smell apples. I thought it was just men who got a kick out of kinky poo's.

try gettng it layered, and get a side fringe with the edges dyed a contrasting colour, like pink or purple etc. if you can, keep it UN pin straight, as this ll prolly give your hair a more feminine soft look, and will look less common

go in to ur salon and ask them to razor some of your roots to give u volume. or u could try it yourself, lift up your top layer of hair (like right around your part) and snip a couple pieces underneth, so they are really short, like 1/8 inch. make sure u cut on the bottom, so the top layer falls down over it. if u do this under the top layer of hair, on each side of your part, and on the very top of your head in the back, it will give great volume. if u dont understand what i mean, please do not cut your own hair. it is very simple to do this, but kinda hard to explaine how to :)

I was just wondering since my other two straighteners broke one was a conair and the other a tresseme from target. My stylist told me she would get me a really good hair straightener and she is bringing it to my house on friday. She said it would cost me about 150 bucks which I didn't mind you know. But all I want to know is will I notice results. Since I have the medium length like thinned out scene kid hair is it? Well yes its choppy and thinned my natural hair is wavy/curly. I just want to know if a good straightener will keep my hair stick straight all day without products. Because my other ones wouldn't do that. And if I didn't use hairspray my hair would revert somewhat back and curl in. Is this good y/n?

this one will prob be able to reach higher temps which will keep your hair straighter longer, but also prob damage it more (the higher quality will give you better ceramic for more even heating.). if you dont love the straightner he/she brings, the chi farouk straightners are the best known to man

Since you were using such low end straighteners, you will defently see a difference when you switch to a high end one. Hopefully she gets you a CHI or a GHB.

You will see a reduction of frizz, your hair will get straighter than before, and your hair will look shinier.

You will probably reduce the ammount of product you use.

Actually, only blanket has blonde hair, and like nicole said, it's probably a cover to protect him, Blanket was born with dark hair. The other two have dark hair. I personally believe that all of the children are Michael's. They have the same eyes as him. Also, skin color does not matter because their mothers are white, and in my opinion all three of them are the same color as Derek Jeter who is of mixed race also.

If you go short you need to find a cut that suits your face shape. Find a good stylist and they will tell you what cut will flatter you . If you find a good cut nobody will make fun of you for having short hair. It will be soo cute they will want the same cute. I've had short hair in high school and no one said anything to me. They knew I wouldn't care what they said. They also knew they'd get an ear full if they did say something. Don't be afraid to be yourself. If you want to have short hair, then do it.

Well i have never had a problem with short hair bullies, but if anyone is being teased for such a trivial thing than the world is going to a bad place. Truthfully I would stand up for them and without fear. People will tease you also if you are afraid- they see it in your eyes. So if you are willing to take that on than I say that you help with conviction and believe what you are saying. Just use a gel that is light weight! If you are only using it every now and then it will be fine. I use it on my kids sometimes and their hair has never been damaged by it. If you are still worried then buy an organic product or something that is all natural. They also make gel for kids which is what I use.

Only wash it every second day so the natural oils have time to recover. Other wise you strip them away and your oil glands work over time trying to replace it all the time. I don't have an answer, but I just wanted to say that that is a very honorable and wonderful thing to do. I went through chemo myself, I handled it very well except for my hair falling out, for me that was the hardest to deal with.

They're both climbers, fussy eaters, don't sleep and now, have curly hair! People are ALWAYS telling me what a pretty daughter I have, it is so annoying! My kids have curly hair. and my son used to get mistaken for a girl all the time. I thought it was flattering for a while (OH, that means he's beautiful). He has long eyelashes too. There came a point between the age of 2 and 3 that I took him for a haircut and got them chopped off. I cried while they were cutting them, but guess what - they grew back! I went through a couple times of letting it grow out a little, then cutting it again. Now he wears it short because he likes it that way, like his friends at school (he's 6). I now realize that keeping his curls was for me, not him! And i know if he ever decides he wants to let it grow he'll look just like Justin Guarini, and people will say "aw, what a cute girl" all over again! LOL

Yes my son had the most beautiful curls and i also refused to cut them.Where ever i took him people would say oh what a beautiful little girl. I would just laugh. It was quite irritating after awhile but i refused to cut them. Even my parents and other family members told me to cut his hair.I cut his curls off just before he went to school so the kids would not tease him.I cried like a baby, but i saved ever curl that was cut off.Also he does still have a couple curls in the very back like a tail but they are short. Don't cut them off until your ready or he is.Don't listen to the negative people just laugh at them.

No, I keep his hair trimmed just enough to keep the curls curly. But I dress him up in sports outfits printed shirts that have bugs, trucks, just whatever screams boy. I'm sorry you've had this problem. I just say keep reminding those who mistake him for a girl that he's a boy.

egg is good to keep your hair soft.. remove the yolk and just apply the white egg to your hair and let it dry.. wash your hair with shampoo.. this will make it softer... when you condition your hair.. apply the conditioner and let it stay for abt 5-7mintues.. and dont use too much of water cleaning off the conditioner.. his helps you have a smoother and shiny hair... curd also works good with the hair... try this.. hope something works for you...

There are lots of products you can use to make it soft but the best one that I have found is Biosilk's Silk Therapy serum. My hair is dry, frizzy and poofy when I don't use it and when I do, it makes everything soft and silky. You can also buy deep conditioning treatments for your hair.

Dyes, blow drying, etc, all damage your hair. You may need to back off from doing them so much (if you do) because if you do it too often, your hair will have a more difficult time getting healthy again.

You can also take vitamins and make sure to drink plenty of water because your hair is affected by your diet.

Why do we give "credit" (by the lack of a better (or rather: worse) word) to Hitler for inventing the concentration camps. It was my country (Holland) which made the first (gas free shower and less-/non-diabolic) version of these camps.
